Canada Goose Contributes Over 2000 Parkas, Jackets and Accessories to Support Displaced Ukrainians and other newcomers in Canada

News Release

Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Unceded Xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Territories / Burnaby, B.C. – Canada Goose donates nearly $550,000 CAD in parkas, jackets and accessories for distribution to displaced Ukrainians and other people in need. The donation reflects Canada Goose’s continuing support for people displaced by conflict since the beginning of full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Canada Goose’s generous donation will help Ukrainians and other newcomers to Canada adjust not only to life in Canada, but also to our weather. Every newcomer’s journey is unique in terms of the opportunities and challenges they face as they work to make Canada their new home. For many, Canada Goose has made that journey a bit more comfortable, and a lot warmer.”

– The Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship

The Government of Canada created the Canadian Industry for Ukraine donation portal, where Canadian businesses can make contributions and get updates on high priority goods and services to support displaced Ukrainians and other newcomers. It also lists the organizations providing aid and settlement/resettlement services.

Two years ago, our government invited Canadian businesses to lend a hand in helping displaced Ukrainians settle in our country. The call was heard and even up to this day, the industry has shown its support and contributed generously. Canada Goose’s donation confirms to the engagement and generosity of business, and the commitment of Canadians in welcoming and assisting those in need.”

The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry

The donations will be distributed by the Operation Ukrainian Safe Haven-Opération Havre de Paix pour les Ukrainiens (OUSH-OHPU) National Secretariat to regional hubs in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec. Created in 2022 by the Affiliation of Multicultural Societies and Service Agencies of BC (AMSSA) in partnership with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, OUSH-OHPU operates a national secretariat of over 100 partners to support Ukrainians across Canada who are fleeing Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

This donation from Canada Goose is the latest in the ongoing partnership between corporate Canada, the newcomer serving sector, and the Government of Canada to support individuals in need across the country,” said Sarosh Rizvi, the Executive Director of Operation Ukraine Safe Haven. “As we continue to welcome and provide support for displaced people from across the world, this donation is a prime example of the Canadian spirit of giving, and the idea of community across our country.”

As part of its response program, Canada Goose previously donated outerwear and apparel items as well as funds to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine. The latest donation reaffirms their continued support of those who have been impacted by the war, as well as other newcomers in need.
